Reconciliation House

About Us

In 2001, the first Reconciliation House Inc. RHI ministry was organized in Jonesboro Georgia under the leadership of Angela and Exavier Johnson – the Resident Directors.

Angela Johnson was given a vision by God to reach out to women coming out of prison to embrace them, to recreate a loving and nurturing family environment for them and to connect them with the local church and community. Angela knew that if ex-prisoners were going to succeed on the outside of those bars, they needed key elements that were missing from their life.

Angela's vision turned to a passion that drove her to move Reconciliation House Inc. to Middle Georgia on 53 acres in 2003. Angela and Exavier realized that their one little Reconciliation House would not make a dent in the lives of thousands of women being released from prison across America daily. Duplication of their model would be a way to increase the number of ex-prisoners being served. Today, they are working on developing partnerships with others like you to build a ministry complex where we can employ the graduates and even the clients as they go through the program at our muliti-faceted, interdenominational, community building facility. That is to include: Bunk House, Dinning Hall, Chapel, Bible College, Library, Fitness Center, Cabins, Activity Center, Nature Trails, Basketball Court, Tennis Court, Bookstore, Organic Garden, Laundry Facility, Picnic Pavilions and more to establish a therapeutic community equipped to eliminate recidivism, equip and empower leaders. (Ambassadors for Christ.) and to service the needs of those showing that Love Is God's Healing Touch by Rearing Others Children,  coping with being Children OPrisoners and  being Women in Aftercare Reentry. The mission of Reconciliation House Inc. to build a therapeutic community that provides a family style living quarters for the development of prominent citizens (Ambassadors for Christ)

This mission is accomplished through 6 key ministry focus areas:

  1. Establishing post-prison ministries centered on Biblical discipleship and meeting our neighbor's needs as they leave the prison gate.

  2. Develop post-prison ministry leaders

  3. Create urgent awareness in the church and community of the need to embrace neighbors coming out of prison

  4. Develop and implement leadership training and curricula

  5. Conduct in-prison evangelism and discipleship as well as outside with camps for their children and family conferences.

  6. Providing family style living quarters that provides cultivation for receiving LIGHT (Love Is God's Healing Touch and Living In Group Housing Together) and reconciling those who are at (WAR) Women in Aftercare Reentry, with those who are (ROC)'s  Rearing Others Children and (COP)'s Children Of Prisioners.

Angela (Angie) Johnson Biography
Angela Johnson, Founder and CEO of Reconciliation House Inc. (RHI) delivers a passionate, urgent and biblically prophetic message around the United States and abroad as she teaches the ministry of Reconciliation in churches, universities, seminars and conferences, and behind prison walls!

Reconciliation House, Inc. is a post-prison ministry equipping the body of Christ and our communities to “love” their neighbors coming out of prison. Angela says the reason RHI does this ministry is not driven by need alone but because it is biblically the right thing to do. Therefore, Angela does not come to teach about RHI; rather Angela comes to teach the ministry of Reconciliation, which reaches across social, gender, racial, cultural and denominational barriers. Angela's desire is to present a Prominent Citizen (“Ambassador of Christ "). It is this very pattern of reconciliation modeled by Jesus Christ that compels Angela as an Ambassador for Christ to reach across in the same way to encourage “Be reconciled to God!”

A self-proclaimed Biblicist, Illinois-born evangelist possesses the unique skill of being able to adapt to any situation and audience Because of Angie's love for God's holy written and living word - the Bible, she is able to present the gospel with clarity and an infectious enthusiasm. Angie says, “Life is not that hard” and therefore it is her mission to make sure that people are introduced to the Ministry of Reconciliation in every one of her teachings.

Angie has come from a very colorful past life apart from Jesus. In 1983, while she was running for her life, Angie met and trusted Jesus Christ. After surrendering her life to Jesus, she moved to Georgia. She received one of the Scholarships awarded to attend Interfaith University in Macon Georgia. There she earned a BA in Biblical Counseling (2006).  Angie was ordained to the work of the reconciliation ministry in 1999.

The first Reconciliation House Inc, organized in late 2001, was the result of Angie's sharing with a few others her vision and personal experience of how the local church provided spiritual and physical help to her. Today's family-home-based model of post-prison ministry was developed at the first house in Atlanta Georgia and Reconciliation House Inc. was formed in 1997. In addition to establishing Reconciliation House Inc., the Meet Me in advance Pen Pal club was established, the initiative was developed to provide an opportunity for members of churches and community organizations to learn of and tell us of the ways to meet the needs of neighbors coming out of prison where the establishment of a complete house was not yet possible but with their input being developed.

Angie and her husband, Exavier are trained ministers for The Last Call Ministry. Angie also serves on the board of director of Last Call, and has served on the board of the Macon Coalition to end homelessness, and has served as a member of the Middle Georgia Clergy Women. She challenges the church and community outside the prison walls to support and embrace inmates while they are in prison and upon their release.

In September 2003, she also began a HUG ministry (Helps Ugly Go) which since its inception has taught women to let down their guard and love and hug which builds the reconciliation process.

A mother of two children, Angie resides with her husband of 25 years and daughter in Georgia, where they are members of Higher Living Christian Church in Hampton Georgia.
